RavennaMosaico

RavennaMosaico is the first International Festival dedicated to the most contemporary expressions of an ancient art. A series of exhibitions, new productions, congresses, workshops, restoration workshops, meetings and conferences, in Ravenna, alongside the early Christian and Byzantine legacy of mosaics that is now part of the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

The Festival is organised in collaboration with AIMC, the International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists.

In exhibition till the 20th of November

The exhibition Mosaico in punta di matita, Reliefs and watercolours from the Archive of Drawings of the Superintendency of Ravenna which opened in October 2009 on the occasion of the First International Contemporary Mosaics Festival, continues at the National Museum of Ravenna.
The exhibition contains tracings, sketches and watercolour drawings produced between the late eighteen hundreds and the early nineteen hundreds, which make it possible to trace the laborious process of making a record of the mosaic surfaces by the restorers in an age when photography was still in its infancy.
